Learn a new language
Apparently learning a new language is never been easy for everyone. Especially if you have never got the chance in using it in a real world. For me as an IT guy, where there are many computer languages existed, when you decided you want to learn how to use it, you just simply find the e-book or find in the book store the how to guide.
When I was in college, the first thing I try to learn is Pascal. Started with the Turbo Pascal 7.1 Then to C, C++ 3.1 then turbo assembly 3.0.
When I graduated from College, I’ve managed to learn PHP and MySql. I build website from scratch with user login and database support. The look is based on PHP nuke. But the inside is based on my idea.
Borland Delphi is finally that I’m using when I used to be a programmer for one of the reinsurance company. It’s not for long. My loved for networking and my certification in one of the most popular network associate specialist got me moved to my next company that I got to work with. It’s another insurance company where I got acquainted with an old programming language, where mostly who using it is above 30 or something. Cobol, I learn it in the hard way. Just like I’ve said. I never learn the language before and my mouth is how I learn. I asked my fellow programmer, the senior programmer. Priodjojo Djatimontro, the manager of development in PLA. Well, he’s not the only one. My boss at that time was also the victim for my basic question. huehuehueue… From then I moved to another insurance company where I learn Clipper. This one is far worse. Is still in DOS era, where everything right now if you try to look in world wide web is PHP, AJAX or JAVA. hiks..
I guess, learning classic if I may say programming language is not useless. It’s a plus in IT world. Since many big corporate is still using it and the sallary is better also. Plus it’s rare, mostly who can use it already move to SG or Ausie.
