My Computer Setup

Reading Gina interview on waferbaby makes me itchy to write something about it also. Here’s my current setup.

So who are you, and what do you do?

I’m Reza Muhammad, one of the employee of the biggest insurance company in the world according to fortune 500, a Business Analyst and a blogger. I work 40 hours a week or more at office, Love playing Football Manager at My laptop and Internet Junkie.

What hardware are you using to get your work done?

I use Desktop Computer at my office to get my work done: 17 inch lcd dell monitor, IBM lenovo 2,16 Ghz, 1 gig of ram, and 80 gig of hard drive. A PC at home to mess a round that i got in my last year of college:17 inch GTC monitor with flat screen, AMD athlon XP 1900+, and 768 MB of ram. a 14 inch wide screen Acer laptop with 1 gig of ram and 120 gig of hard drive for my daily browsing, reading RSS feed, blogging and playing FM 2009 at home. A motorolla sufboard modem for internet connection, and Belkin wifi hub for wifi connectivity connecting 4 family computer wirelessly (2 are my computer:laptop and desktop pc, 1 is my brother macbook, and 1 is my sister compaq notebook). I use a classic Nokia 8250 handset with blue screen, and 2 gig of 1st generation IPOD nano which I bought 4 years ago.

And what software?

For all my computer, either it is laptop or desktop pc i use firefox mostly for browsing with most favorite tab:google reader for rss reading, gmail, total commander for windows explorer replacement. For work I use notepad++ for code editor and source reading, Sql Sever Management Studio to connect 5 different sql instance including Production and data testing, picasa 3 for managing my pictures, colibri file launcher for windows, SyncToy a file synchronizer between production source code and my local drive source code. Visual Fox Pro to open and edit DBF table, Beyond Compare for file and folder compare, Yahoo Messenger for chat, and Media Player Classic for watching avi and divx movies. If you think it’s a short list, well you could always suggest me for more productive software for me to install. Anyway i’m also subscribing Lifehacker for life and works upgrade :) .

What would be your perfect, ultimate setup?

Start with Apple Product would be nice. A Imac or 17 inch Macbook Pro and a 16 gb 3G iPhone is something I would dream on. A terra hard drive would be fantastic to keep all my downloaded divx movies and music. a never expired rapidshare account and 24 hours wimax connectivity with wifi capabilities could summarize everything.

I must keep the faith, I must keep the faith, I must keep the faith, keep the faith, keep the faith, keep dreamin, keep dreamin… hahahahaha…

Like Gina said,

“Think we can arrange that?”
